The gender gap in tech is real and doesn't seem to be getting much better. In 1985, 37 percent of computer science bachelor degrees in USA went to women; by 2013, that number dropped to 18 percent. In Sweden the share of women in the IT&Telecom area is lower than ever with 29% ( peak at 2008 with 32,3%) *Source: IT&Telekomföretagen.

But there is also positive changes, especially in the younger generations (16-20 years) in Stockholm where 46%*of women was positive to work in IT. Source: Unga kvinnor och IT

Not to mention that fact that we all live in Stockholm which is the world's second most prolific tech hub on a per capita basis, behind Silicon Valley *Source: The Telegraph

The documentary will give us a updated view on the status and situation for women in tech in America today. After that we want to talk about our situation in Sweden and Stockholm. How can we as a "women in tech" community help to change the gender gap.

The aftertalk will be a open discussion between invited representatives from different women in tech initiatives and the audience.
